How to choose brake pads

Brake pads are the most frequently replaced part of the braking system: the friction lining wears down in use and needs replacing after a certain mileage. Sellers on parts.ge list both original and aftermarket pads for the front and rear axle - use the make, model and price filters to narrow the list.

When pads need replacing

Worn pads make themselves known with squealing or a metallic grinding sound under braking, and the pedal starts to feel softer than usual. A fully worn pad also damages the disc, which is why pads are checked together with the brake discs and replaced at the same time when needed. Many cars also have a wear sensor that shows a warning on the dashboard.

What to check before buying

  • The pad set must match your exact model - compare the OEM number or ask the seller to confirm fitment by VIN
  • Front and rear pads differ in size and are sold separately; a set on one axle is always replaced as a pair
  • Friction materials differ - organic pads run quieter, ceramic and semi-metallic ones last longer
  • Pads are best bought new - the remaining life of a used set is unknown

Fitting and service

If you'd rather not change the pads yourself, parts.ge also lists auto services - see brake pad replacement in the service section.

Frequently asked questions

Pads on one axle are always replaced as a pair - left and right together - so braking stays even. The front and rear axles can be serviced at different times.
