What the car is telling you
- Squealing under braking - typically worn pads; the part itself is in the brake pads category
- Vibration in the pedal while braking - discs warped by overheating
- Pulling to one side under braking - one caliper is seizing and needs repair
- A soft, sinking pedal - air in the system or a fluid leak
- The ABS lamp - usually a sensor or its wire, not the unit itself
The disc - resurface or replace
A warped disc is not always a write-off: if the thickness reserve allows, resurfacing trues the surface and removes the vibration - cheaper than replacement. A disc below minimum thickness or cracked is replaced only; new and used brake discs are in the parts section. In both cases the pads are checked along with the discs - they work as a pair.
Rules a good specialist never breaks
Pads change only in pairs per axle; after every intervention the system is bled and the pedal is tested; and fresh pads ask for gentle braking over the first kilometers while they bed into the disc. If the specialist mentions these details unprompted - you are in the right place.
